Snow bunnies big and small get their money’s worth during their winter holidays in the Swiss mountain village of Grächen. Grächen is a popular holiday destination for all fans of winter sports – and also the perfect destination for family holidays. The perfect accommodation is the Aktiv Hotel & Spa Hannigalp, where gourmet lovers also get their money’s worth.

Something very special that the Aktiv Hotel & Spa Hannigalp is the only hotel in Grächen to offer its guests is the ‘Winter Experiences 13 Stars’. Guests staying at the hotel for the first night receive a 13% discount on a 1-3 day ski pass and a 20% discount on a 4-6 day ski pass. For guests who explore Grächen on foot, a one-off ‘pedestrian pass’ is offered for a return journey on the gondola. In addition to these two services, the hotel also offers 11 other exclusive services for the winter. Here is the link to: ‘Winter experiences 13 stars’.
Guests at the Aktiv Hotel & Spa Hannigalp will certainly not be bored, as the destination and the hotel offer many winter activities.
Skiing in Grächen
A total of 44 kilometres of perfectly groomed pistes invite skiers and snowboarders to leave their tracks in the snow. On 9 easy, 33 medium and 2 difficult kilometres of slopes, guests can enjoy a variety-packed day in the Grächen mountains. Cross-country skiing enthusiasts can enjoy a classically groomed trail and fans of speedy sledging will also get their money’s worth.
Snowbike with your host
Great fun for all ages and an excellent interlude in a day’s skiing: you swap your skis for a snowbike, get a short introduction and off you go. Olivier – the host at the Aktiv Hotel & Spa Hannigalp – has been organising this now almost famous activity for many years with great enthusiasm and skill!
Snowshoeing and sledging fun
If you want to feel completely at one with nature, there’s no getting round a snowshoe hike. The Grächen region offers four snowshoe trails for big and small fans of wintry landscapes. They are categorised into three levels of difficulty and offer great experiences for the curious and experts alike. In the SiSu Family Park, guests can spend great and action-packed hours sledging. The rapid descent from Hannigalp to Lake Grächen is also great fun. The toboggan run is 3 kilometres long and leads the sledge through rapid steep bends.
The hotel’s own wellness area is ideal for relaxing after an active winter’s day. Incidentally, the only indoor pool in Grächen is in the Aktiv Hotel & Spa Hannigalp and is also open to external guests. External guests as well as hotel guests can also book the private spa. The entire spa can be booked for three hours from 8.00 pm to 11.00 pm. Price: CHF 59 p.p. for hotel guests / CHF 79 p.p. for locals / CHF 89 p.p. for external guests. The spa has a lot to offer: from a steam bath to an organic sauna with Alpine herbs, an ice fountain, an experience shower, a Finnish sauna, an outdoor whirlpool bath, a relaxation room and a sauna gondola – this is my personal highlight. Sitting outside in the sauna gondola and looking directly at the impressive mountain panorama is pure relaxation.
Culinary delights at the Hotel Hannigalp
The three-star superior hotel cooks with a lot of heart and the menu features many hearty dishes. The seasonal menu is known and loved far beyond the ‘4 hotel walls’ and also attracts many external guests. A classic that always works: the Châteaubriand. When I visited the Hannigalp, it was game season and I had an excellent venison fillet medallion with the classic side dishes that are served with game dishes. At the two tables around me, the host Olivier flambéed the saddle of venison in front of the guests – it was a real eye-catcher!
