St. Moritz – A winter like no other

St. Moritz is in a league of its own: for generations, the resort has attracted a sophisticated, international clientele who enjoy the unique and beautiful location high in the Engadin and the outstanding range of sport, hospitality, culture and lifestyle on offer. Thanks to its excellent infrastructure, inimitable Swiss service culture and connections to Zurich, Milan and beyond, St. Moritz has everything to offer – a modern, cosmopolitan Alpine destination that combines urban sophistication with the advantages of life in the mountains.

Situated at 1856 metres above sea level in the Upper Engadine, St. Moritz combines all the advantages of a global metropolis – in a practical small format. The exclusive blend of unspoilt nature, world-class culture, culinary delights, wellbeing and sport inspires and inspires. A pioneering spirit and innovation have always been part of St. Moritz’s DNA, as evidenced by the wide variety of top events throughout the year. Added to this are an average of 322 days of sunshine per year and guaranteed snow in winter. In the four versatile ski areas of Corviglia, Corvatsch, Diavolezza/Lagalb and Zuoz as well as five smaller areas, winter sports enthusiasts have a total of 350 kilometres of fantastic ski slopes at their disposal, with the highest point at 3,303 metres above sea level.

St. Moritz also sets standards when it comes to accommodation: in addition to six traditional grand hotels in the five-star category, four- and three-star hotels, guesthouses, youth hostels and a wide variety of holiday flats and houses await guests.

Pop-ups and new openings shake up the St. Moritz gastronomy scene

This winter, the Alpine metropolis is offering new culinary highlights. The Grace La Margna Hotel, which opened last summer and is the only five-star hotel in St. Moritz open 365 days a year, will be home to a branch of the well-known international restaurant chain Beefbar from mid-December. A Crazy Pizza pop-up restaurant will enrich the offering at the Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski St. Moritz during the winter season. And a new era of luxury and entertainment begins at the Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski on 6 December, when the hotel becomes the elegant stage for the dinner theatre of the new Billionaire St. Moritz.

Mr Samigo brings pizza and Savoy Bar to St. Moritz

With Samigo Fuel 7500, a new hotspot is being created right next to the train station on 20 December – a place that combines lunch, dinner, shopping and nightlife. ‘Mr Samigo’ Sami Khouri and his creative team are bringing the legendary Samigo spirit from Zurich directly to the Upper Engadine: from the outside, Samigo Fuel is reminiscent of a petrol station with a retro look, while inside there is a mini market with a hand-picked range, Samici Pizza with crispy pizza and champagne and the highlight of the concept: the Savoy Bar St. Moritz. The nostalgic bar from the historic Savoy Hotel Zurich shines in new splendour and transforms into a pulsating dance floor in the evening. ALTO will also open its doors in the heart of St. Moritz on 20 December. In the pop-up restaurant, chefs Luc Liebster, former sous-chef of the world-famous Pujol restaurant in Mexico City, and Gino Miodragovic, private chef and most recently head chef at Igniv St. Moritz, create an exciting mix of local ingredients with the exotic flavours of Mexico and Asia. The ALTO journey, which is based on a surprise menu, is accompanied by a carefully curated wine list.

St. Moritz – the alpine art and culture hotspot

From 14 December 2024 to 29 March 2025, Galerie Hauser & Wirth is showing the exhibition ‘Jean-Michel Basquiat. Engadine’. It is the artist’s first solo exhibition focussing on the paintings that Basquiat created and was inspired by during his visits to Switzerland. It explores various artistic motifs that link the natural and cultural landscape of the Engadin with the metropolis of New York. In addition to a large number of renowned art galleries that already have branches in St. Moritz, the gallery scene will receive further prominent additions this winter with Tony Kelly and Thaddäus Ropac. From 20 to 23 February 2025, the unusual art fair NOMAD, which presents leading international galleries with exhibitions in architecturally exceptional locations and promotes a unique dialogue between art and design in a very personal context, will once again be making a stop in St. Moritz. The travelling art fair will be housed in the former premises of the Gut Clinic. The Berry Museum, the Segantini Museum, the Mili Weber Haus, the Museum Engiadinais and the Upper Engadine Cultural Archive also provide a lively art and cultural experience in St. Moritz all year round.
