Peace and nature opposite the Matterhorn

At 2,222 metres, the nights are refreshing in summer. After an eventful day of hiking around Zermatt with views of the highest peaks in the Alps, sink your head onto the fluffy pillow and set your sights on the Matterhorn.

A favourable microclimate influences the high plateau on the south side of which the Riffelalp Resort is located. At an altitude of 2,222 metres, it lies directly opposite the Matterhorn and has a fantastic view of a breathtaking mountain panorama. The resort also stands on the edge of a Swiss stone pine forest with picturesque, gnarled and wonderfully fragrant trees. In the shade of the Swiss stone pines, you can recharge your batteries and enjoy the tranquillity of nature. The distant ringing of cowbells reminds you that the Riffelalp is a real alp with Swiss cows.

Even the journey there is an experience. On the cog railway, you leave the hustle and bustle of the village behind you and sit back and relax while the majestic Matterhorn impresses. In summer, Europe’s highest tram awaits you at the Riffelalp station, taking you to the Riffelalp Resort on what is probably the shortest tram route in the world. Of course, you can also take the short walk through the picturesque forest to hear the silence for the first time.

But it gets even more relaxing: In Europe’s highest spa, you can experience pure wellness and immerse yourself in an oasis of deep relaxation. A special highlight is the 35ºC outdoor pool, surrounded by the beautiful Valais mountain panorama and with a direct view of Switzerland’s breathtaking landmark, the Matterhorn. Relax on a sun lounger, unwind and admire the Matterhorn …

Is this how you imagine your dream holiday?
