The Hotel Spitzhorn is located in the beautiful Saanenland, surrounded by mountains, lakes and the most beautiful nature. It attracts guests who want to be pampered and appreciate ‘doing nothing’ – in winter as well as in summer. The guiding principle of hosts Michel and Ilse Wichman: the lightness of being. Discover the Hotel Spitzhorn with us and get to know your host Michel Wichman.
A guest at the Hotel Spitzhorn
The Hotel Spitzhorn is the perfect ‘headquarters for fun and enjoyment’. Every moment on the doorstep is an experience: whether it’s fun on the piste, clear champagne air, polo, world-famous music events, professional tennis or simply the impressive natural surroundings.
The 3-star superior hotel offers 50 rooms with 110 beds – and fantastic views of the region. Deep relaxation awaits guests in the wellness world with indoor pool, sun terrace, sauna, steam bath, Kneipp pool, adventure shower and relaxation room. A fitness room is available for those who want to stay active. A personalised massage can also be booked and rounds off the offer for perfect relaxation.
A special highlight for guests: for stays of three nights or more, guests at the Hotel Spitzhorn receive a personalised diary in which they can record their impressions and experiences. This remains in a specially created library in the hotel after their stay and is waiting to be continued on their next visit. ‘The idea has been enthusiastically received by our guests,’ explains Michel Wichman. ‘The diary makes their stay even more memorable.’

Of course, we also had a chat with host Michel Wichman and asked him 4 questions:
For the tenth time in a row, Karl Wild’s Hotel Spitzhorn was voted the best 3-star winter hotel in the Sonntagszeitung hotel rating in 2024 – what a brilliant achievement. How do you explain this success?
Our recipe for success is simple: not always more of everything, but the best of what is important. We focus on generosity and genuine comfort – from the brighter rooms and sparkling champagne to the beaming faces of our team. Everything we do is aimed at offering our guests an unrivalled stay. For us, true luxury means focussing entirely on the well-being of our guests – without a lot of staging, but with a lot of heart.
Employee satisfaction always plays an important role in guest satisfaction. How do you motivate your team to perform at their best every day and also to enjoy their job?
An appreciative working environment in which play, joy and passion are encouraged is the key to a motivated team – and we do this very well. What counts for us is quality rather than quantity: committed employees who are enthusiastic about what they do ensure smiling faces, smart service and excellent quality – something that our guests also feel. It is also important to us that our team identifies with the hotel and knows who they are working for. This feeling of security and belonging strengthens motivation and binds our employees in the long term.
How do you define luxury?
In an age characterised by constant acceleration and digital networking, we often find it difficult to really switch off. Smartphones, tablets and laptops are omnipresent, and the feeling of always having to be available robs us of time, space and the clarity we long for. Today, luxury no longer lies in things, but in special experiences. Experiences that take us out of our everyday lives, bring families together, broaden our horizons or give us a sense of freedom – combined with the reassuring knowledge that someone is taking care of everything. This kind of luxury is priceless, and we are proud to be able to offer our guests just that.
Describe the Hotel Spitzhorn in three words:
Never artificial, never pushy, and always credible – does that count? That’s more than three words (laughs).
