Mindful forest bathing, e-bike tours and nature tours with a geo-guide – these are just a few of the unique activities that start at the Romantikhotel Schweizerhof. The hosts reveal the «Hidden Places», but to find the hidden paths, you have to come to Flims yourself. The 16th flimsfestival will also take place from 31 March 2024 to the beginning of 2025.
Nature experiences away from the well-known Lake Cauma – the new Schweizerhof Flims bucket list
This summer, the Schweizerhof Flims has developed a new hiking bucket list that leads you to the «as yet» unknown, fascinating natural pools and hidden places in the surrounding area. Guests receive the insider tip guide on arrival at the hotel. Beforehand, Sandra Schmidt, the hotel host, reveals two hidden places: the Flims waterway Trutg dil Flem with its seven bridges and the «cathedral» Bargis, a place of power. The steep rock faces and 100 metre high waterfalls impress young and old alike. Equipped with mountain boots, you can discover one of these magical places alone or with the whole family. To make the most of your holiday, the Schweizerhof is also happy to arrange additional nature tours and e-bike tours with professional guides.
Yoga, meditation, mindfulness and forest bathing
Summer in Graubünden is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts and people who want to do something good for themselves and their bodies. The Romantik Hotel & Spa has developed a special expertise in yoga over the years. As part of the regular inclusive weekly programme, the professional teachers offer four to five yoga lessons, one Shibashi Qi-Gong session, one Pilates session, one forest bathing session and, at the height of summer, morning yoga and swimming together at Lake Cauma on Sundays. The Schweizerhof Yoga Weeks also took place this year from 27 June to 17 July 2024, with an energising morning lesson and a regenerative evening lesson included for hotel guests.
121 years of family business and constant development
The 4-star Schweizerhof Flims is a traditional family business now run by the 4th generation. Sandra and Christoph Schmidt and his mother Therese celebrated their 120th anniversary last year. However, they not only honour the historic Belle Epoque building, but are constantly developing the offer for the benefit of guests.
For example, a bathhouse with a natural stone bath, three massage rooms and a forest room dedicated to mindfulness and meditation opened in December 2022. In spring, the photovoltaic system was installed on the roof and connected to the grid in June. In future, the building will be able to generate its own electricity. This will cover 50 per cent of the consumption of the bathhouse with the spa floor, saunas and plunge pools.
Local cuisine inspired by closeness to nature
After an eventful day in the green Surselva, guests look forward to the hotel’s relaxation offers and culinary delights. In addition to meat classics and regional specialities, special attention is paid to wholesome vegetarian and vegan cuisine. The daily vitality dish tastes great with top Grisons wines. Freshly caught fish from the region is served twice a week.
Cultural discoveries at the 16th flimsfestival (duration 31.03.2024 – 01.01.2025)
Music lovers also experience great moments at the Hotel Schweizerhof. As part of the 16th flimsfestival, the wife Lisa of the late author Ephraim Kishon will be a guest there on 26 September 2024 with his klezmer ensemble (including dinner). Ephraim Kishon would have celebrated his 100th birthday this summer on 23 August. On 30 November, the young violinist Moë Dierstein will delight audiences with «Music by the Fireside». And on 1 January 2025, «The Little New Year’s Concert» will be performed twice by a chamber music trio to the delight of hotel guests.
About the Schweizerhof Flims, Romantik Hotel
The history of the four-star hotel in Flims dates back to 1903. That was when the Schweizerhof Flims first opened its doors. Since then, the Romantik Hotel has adapted to the changing times without forgetting its origins – most recently with a new spa. The historic walls, the classically elegant interior, the varied cultural programme and the warmth of the hosts and owner family Schmidt and their team have always been known far beyond the region.

The new mountain and forest spa extends over 750 square metres and includes a Finnish sauna with a view of the Flimserstein, an organic Arvensauna, an infrared sauna, a steam bath, a yoga and meditation room, treatment rooms and the natural stone indoor pool. Since December 2022, the Schweizerhof has been a member of Flims Laax Falera’s innovative «Spa Around» programme, which allows hotel guests to use the spas of eight of the destination’s top hotels.
You can relax in the chic 48 rooms, because although located in the centre of Flims Waldhaus, the hotel is surrounded by its own park and the Flims Grosswald forest and is within walking distance of Lake Cauma. The cuisine also celebrates the classic with the modern. In the elegant Belle Epoque restaurant, chef Jannik Moser prepares light, market-fresh cuisine with a French accent. Those who prefer a more private atmosphere can book the Chambre d’hôte – the guest room where the Schweizerhof’s owner family used to dine in the old days. Balmy summer days are best enjoyed on the Art Nouveau veranda with a view of the greenery or on the roof terrace. The bar and lobby invite you to enjoy an atmospheric nightcap. Thanks to state-of-the-art technology, the historic banqueting halls and rooms are just as suitable for meetings as they are for romantic weddings.
