Discover, experience, relax: the Cresta Palace Celerina in the Engadin

Hotel Cresta Palace Celerina

For all those who love ski-in/ski-out, the 4* superior hotel in Celerina is the perfect address for your next winter holiday. But it’s not just winter sports enthusiasts who are drawn to the historic hotel – connoisseurs also appreciate a break in this special ambience. We visited the Grand Hotel in the Engadin for a weekend for SNOWTIMES and were thrilled!

We arrived at the Cresta Palace on Friday evening and were warmly welcomed by the reception team. When we arrived, we were particularly impressed by our Junior Suite Cresta, which was newly renovated in 2022 and boasts a large balcony and a fantastic view of the Engadine mountains. A total of 40 of the 90 rooms were extensively renovated and completely redesigned during a three-month renovation phase in 2022. In 2025, further rooms will be given a refresh and the Art Nouveau style will be ‘reintroduced’ to the rooms.

Culinary highlights

The Cresta Palace also boasts four different restaurants. On the first evening, we dined at Giacomo’s. As of this winter season, the à la carte restaurant has a new concept: Mediterranean cuisine and exotic flavours meet the Engadine. Our personal highlight at Giacomo’s: the baked parmesan ball with a tartare of Angus beef, truffle and Tropea onion. Truly a must when visiting the restaurant. For those of us with a sweet tooth, the Tiramisu 2.0 is also highly recommended – a wonderful treat for the palate. For those who also like Asian cuisine, there is no way around ASIA 75. We chose the Asia Voyage menu and were delighted with the delicious dishes! However, it wasn’t just the dishes that impressed us, but also the friendly service and the location itself. The restaurant is located in a large conservatory, modern yet simply furnished. In addition to these two must-visit restaurant addresses, a 5-course menu can be enjoyed daily in the Grand Restaurant. The Grand Restaurant also serves a sumptuous breakfast buffet every day. We were also totally impressed by the rooms of the Grand Restaurant – flooded with light, high ceilings and the beautiful chandeliers give the room that certain something. Another highlight in the winter season, for guests and locals alike, is the Chäs Beizli, where raclette, cheese fondue and Grisons specialities are served.

Relaxation in the wellness centre

During our short holiday in Celerina, we not only feasted, of course, but also took a break from everyday life in the 1,200 m2 VITA PURA SPA. Especially in the hectic period just before Christmas, when there is a lot going on, this was very beneficial. The 4* superior hotel has a panoramic pool, saunas and steam baths, yoga and fitness as well as massages tailored to personal needs and innovative beauty treatments. After a sauna session, you can either cool off in the ice bath, at the ice fountain or with an ice-cold shower – afterwards you feel like a new person again. What I also particularly liked was the heated stone by the footbaths, which is simply wonderfully relaxing.

In a prime location, in winter and summer

The hotel’s location is also excellent. If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of St. Moritz, you’ve come to the right place. Celerina is in a quiet location and right next to the Marguns gondola lift, making it the ideal starting point in winter too – ski-in/ski-out is the order of the day here. The gondola lift next to the hotel takes guests directly to the sunny Corviglia ski area and the valley descent brings you right back to the hotel. Those looking for variety can also reach the other ski areas around Celerina in just a few minutes. ‘You can also be in St. Moritz within a few minutes by car or public transport – so if you’re looking for a little more peace and quiet, but still like to stroll around St. Moritz, you’ve come to the right place,’ says Liane Kohl, management assistant at the Cresta Palace. Winter sports fans benefit from the attractive Sleep & Skipass offer. Guests receive the hotel ski pass for the duration of their stay for CHF 47 per person per day. With this offer, the hotel ski pass is booked for the entire stay (number of nights corresponds to number of skiing days). But the Cresta Palace is also a real gem in summer. The unspoilt nature, countless and almost deserted hiking trails, state-of-the-art bike trails and free travel on the mountain railways including bike transport (from 2 nights) make the Cresta Palace an absolute place of longing.
